Default Water situation between Dahlgren Campground (MD) and Duncannon (PA)

Has anyone hiked the section between Dahlgren Campground (MD) and Duncannon (PA) recently? My group is heading that way next week for our annual section hike and we are wondering what the current situation is with water sources. Are many of them dry or are they flowing well after the recent hurricane weather? Should we carry more water than usual? Any info would be appreciated.

Not any current info (and you're not likely to get much if any at this time of year) but in general that shouldn't be a problem. The springs in this area are very reliable and at this time of year run well. Your only problem with water in these sections is between Boiling Springs and Darlington shelter, where you're crossing the agricultural lowlands. The only possible water is at Scott Farm, so you need to carry a lot of water out of Boiling Springs.

What Strategic said is accurate. It was easy walking in there for sure.

I just finished a section from rt 34 to Boiling Springs.
I didn't stay at the Alex Kennedy Shelter, so I don't know about water there, but every stream crossing was bone dry with the exception of one which had puddles of water but nothing flowing.

I would suggest you or someone in your group download FarOut, an app that shows more current real time status of such questions as water and campsites etc. it’s pretty awesome to have

I actually have the Far Out app already - and while some of the information regarding water sources was fairly recent, other posts were much older. I just thought I'd take a chance here and see if anyone had been out in the last couple of weeks. Thanks for your response, though.

I hiked a section from Big Flats (Shippensburg Rd.) to James Fry Shelter 3 weeks ago. The spring at James Frye was dry and even Tagg Run where the shelter blue blaze intersects the AT was almost dry with just some stagnant pools. The spring at Toms Run Shelter was flowing.
