Hi, I am wondering if anyone knows of a good AT Map online from GA-ME. I am aware (and own) section maps of the AT as well as a data book but want a complete one to track my buddy "Stateline J" and his progress NOBO.

i have only seen an image scanned of the entire AT map put out by the parks service. I have had some success using topozone.com in conjuntion with GPS readings of shelter locations. Many topo maps you find online do have a dotted line marked appalachian trail but that is only as updated as the makers of those topo maps care to be.
I find some military maps on the internet but they are very outdated since they only update every 10 years on paper anyway, one map i found online was 1980 something and had the AT on it in NYC.

Speaking of this, I just found a complete map of the PCT for Google earth, but so far I have only found the shelter map for the AT for same software. Anyone seen a Google Earth AT map out there yet?

NP, it's not perfect though, I noticed a lot of places it deviates slightly from the real trail.Originally Posted by SGT Rock
The person that imported the data into Google Earth did not provided a citation for the data source. I know that the ATC files for the AT centerline and AT shelters can be imported into Google Earth, but you need Google Earth Pro or Google Earth Enterprise Client to import 3rd party vector data.Originally Posted by The Cheat
If anyone has Google Earth Pro, it would be nice if they imported the ATC data and created a .KMZ file so the data source and its accuracy would be known.

Not sure if we're using the same data file, but the file I'm using IS from the AT centerline data and is cited here:Originally Posted by LostInSpace

Thanks! No, we were not using the same file. I was using the file from the link that The Cheat provided in post #7. The file from the link you provided is more accurate and was definitely built from the ATC data. The track using the file from your link is consistent with the track I created in Terrain Navigator from the ATC data.Originally Posted by chief
After loading Google Earth with the file from the link you provided and the file from the link The Cheat provided, I can readily see the differences.

That's awesome! Look at the attached and you'll see just how close it gets. That white line is the AT boardwalk going through the swamp behind the AT train station in Pawling, NY.Originally Posted by chief
Just as an aside, any other parts of the AT you can see from space? I can show you the dover oak.
