I might begin the trail on March 1, 2007. Anyone else starting at that time?

lol, ok within a day or two there will be a hundred people behind you, and you certainly will see plenty of people on March 1st.

We are planning to start the last week of Feb.

I agree! Midweek starts are preferable than weekends unless you like crowds.Originally Posted by Austexs
My comment was that there would be no way that 200 other hikers would be starting on Thursday, March 1.
BTW, when I started my thru I was the only person that spent the night at Springer. I shared Gooch Gap shelter with a couple section hikers at the end of my first day hiking, and didn't spend the night with another thru until Rainbow Springs. Things have changed over the years.
I'm planning on March 15 (unless something unforeseen changes that date).

We moved our start date to March 1st - Skipper, Paul Bunyan, and Blissful.
And from what I heard at Trail Days - hikers there warned to be ready for snow.
The team of Butch Cassidy and the Sundance Kid plan to start our mosey northbound from Springer Feb 27th. Yeah you do the Smokies in the Winter you can expect Snow, and Ice and wind and rain. Hey if the mailman can do it! I am as excited as I was in 05. See Ya up trail. Butch
A toast to the ones that don't fit in.
My start date isn't set in stone, but I am shooting for a March 1st. start date
Diablo and I are starting the trail March 1st. Although, I'm just sectioning to Neels Gap,,, Diablo will continue on to Katahdin. I will be his local support. Maybe we'll see ya out there!
I'll be starting the approach trail on 3/4. You'll probably stay ahead of me though, since I'll be moving slow.
You're half my age so you might catch up soon! See you on the trail.
I'm starting a couple days before you on Feb. 27.
