    Default Bemis campsite

NOBO on the AT just as you walk thru the first Bemis Stream there is a cleared area to the left of the trail, easy to miss if you are not looking for it. I choose to hike alone to savor the last days of the AT and found this place to camp for the night. Plenty of good clean water, great sounds of the stream crashing over the rocks. You are past the stream so you can dry out. There is plenty of wood if necessary (fires may be illegal there??) but there was chainsawed wood as if a trail crew had been there. I saw a young bear clawing a tree for grubs 30 yards from my tent. Awesome and the best night I spent in five months.

    Thumbs up Bemis Campsite

It is a nice spot. I camped at the very same place during my 01 thru.
