    Default butane/propane cannister availability

My MSR PocketRocket uses butane/propane mix cannisters. After reading the 2003 Thru-Hiker's Handbook sections for Maine and NH there are many more references to availability of Coleman fuel and denatured alcohol than other fuels. Will availability of these cannisters be a problem? My southbound thru-hike begins the third week of June.

    Hopefully this isn't too late.

I too bought a butane stove, love it, but you may have problems finding butane cartridges and you cannot ship them.

I just purchased, yes purchased, I am not mechanically inclined...a Pepsi alcohol stove. It's lightweight and denatured alcohol can be found anywhere paint is sold.

If alcohol is not your thing try buying an Esbit stove. The fuel tables are a little heavy, but nothing outrageous and you can ship them. www.campmor.com sells them.

    Good Luck!

    Default Cannister stove

I have had no problems with the Post Office shipping Butane/Propane cannisters as long as it is marked and goes by surface mail.
