I know it would only be an educated average, but how long does it take to get to Damascus from Springer?

4-5 weeks.

As for me personally, I was a little slower (they don't call me Pokey for nothing). Started Springer April 5, got to Damascus Memorial Day weekend. Almost two months. That'll probably be the longest it'll take you.
Thank you! I'd like to go to Trail Days, but it looks like I'll be passing by before the event. How do other thru hikers deal with this situation?

I'm planning on hitching. Or posting something here asking for a lift.
It'll be easy to get a ride to Trail Days, regardless of where you are on the trail. A lot of people went with a group from whichever hostel they were closest to at that point. You shouldn't have any trouble.
37 Days 3.5 hours to Damascus. I haven't talked to the Sundance Kid about it yet but we will be in Harpers ferry for Trail Days and I am thinking about renting a Van to Ferry "The Wild Bunch" and friends to Trail Days. We will pack as many as we can into the Van from there south. Butch

Trail Days is awesome when you have hiked in, but there's definitely something missing when you're just a spectator. I'm not sure I'll ever go to Trail Days again unless I can hike there.
Gotta disagree with Wolf on this one. He says 4-5 weeks?
I don't think so. For most people, it's more like 35-40 days from Springer to Damascus. It depends a lot on when you are hiking; February and March hikers will have slower progress than those hiking later in the season; still, anything under 35 days would be quite good time.
