    Hmmm I'm new around here, but aren't you maybe just a feeew months early to be asking that already? lol I'm just playin'! That's what I call planning ahead! I wish I had done a bit of that, but I'm ok now!

    No, I think it's also closed in '09 for fumigation. I'm sure it's open in 2010!... Ooor is that when they're relocating it to Europe? I forget.

    I hope to be giving the AT another shot in 2008 and may leave around that time. Stick around. Next fall there will be loads of people here planning their 2008 thruhikes.

    When the 2007 thread came up, I immediately had my date in mind and couldn't wait to post. If anything, the sooner you know the better chance you have to spend time getting the gear you need and read all these great threads and articles on WB and planning a first rate thru.

    To the 2008ers - have fun planning this year!!!! And be thinking of us 2007ers.

    In 2006 I started April 5th. The first time I heard I was never going to finish on time was from a couple of day hikers I ran into on Memorial Day. From that point on, I heard it repeated all the way up the trail (always from townies and dayhikers) until I summited on October 13th. Class I day. Got to the point that when people asked me when I was going to finish I replied "no sooner than I have to"

    Next time I'll start earlier and finish later. Enjoy your hike.
