It's looking like I'm going to be able to start my NOBO in early April. I'm a pretty strong hiker, I'll be solo and I like to hike with a lot of people around. So my question is... for grouping up would I be better off starting April 3 on a Tuesday but closer to the March 15th peak, or waiting until April 7th, a Saturday? I will have a preliminary goal of hitting Damascus right around trail days, which appears doable from either start date. Will there still be lots of people starting this late or will it have dwindled a bit?
While I'm on the topic, my cold weather clothes for this start includes:
Long underwear top (capilene1) and bottoms (capilene 4)
Montbell UL Thermawrap jacket
Frogg Togg rain jacket
3 oz. Wind shirt
Light nylon Columbia fishing pants
Capilene 1 gloves
Thick smartwool socks for mittens or sleeping
Thin warm hat
Lower face balaclava
20 degree Western Mountaineering sleeping bag
Too little? Overkill? Just right? When should I plan to send home the warm stuff?
