    Awesome pics. I never thought crampons was an essential in the Smokies this time of year, but more of an luxury item. Those pics. prove....it is a must have item. My wife is going to kill me when I tell her I need some more gear...LOL.

    I've been on Alum Cave Trail coming down from LeConte in January with a pair of cheesy 4 point strap-ons, while a couple buddies had the more fancy 6 point step ins. They had to be taken on and off quite a bit, but those ice coverd stretches can be scary stuff. I was jealous of the 6 points, and one fellow with us had only hiking poles. We had to help him many times. Those pics brought back memories. Nice job Chris.
    That's my dog, Echo. He's a fine young dog.
