    Default One Legged Hiker

I read an article in a local newspaper about a hiker from Georgia that had a artificial leg that was solar powered. He was going to start a thru hike in April 2004. Anyone else read this article?.

I read the same article. If I remember correctly he has to take some kind of recharger with him. Hope he doesn't run out of power.....

This is not April 1st. If this is true I need two of them since mine don't work so well anymore.

    Lugnut,
It's true. The recharger is in case there are days of cloud cover. I can't get the page to open in order to post the URL here, but go to the ATC homepage and click on 'what's new' . There's an article there about it.

mg, I couldn't find any reference to the solar leg on the ATC homepage but did find one to a bionic leg on fred/cathy's site.
The link was to a Knoxville newspaper but the article was gone.
    Guess you weren't kidding.

    Default One Legged Hiker

Oh how we can get things turned around, this hiker did not have a solar leg he had a bionic leg that run off batteries and these batteries are recharged using a solar power recharger.

Bionic legs? Interesting...I think I'll pick a few of these up and attach them to my backpack.
