Awesome. Thank you again Veteran. I added this to our articles section.
Pretty cool. Here's another excellent AT/ Google Maps combo from the excellent Appalachian Trail Database. That one maps the towns/POs and major landmarks as well as the shelters, and the pop-up balloons are a bit more informative.
I can't believe all the work that went into both of those maps. Pretty remarkable.

... yes, spectacular maps. sure would love to see the trail... is that dreaming?

Here's another google map that automatically adjusts trail detail and visible shelters as the user zooms in and out. Very useful for finding road crossings.

Wow, that's very nice! Love the overlay options between topo/terrain/etc. Any idea what data defines the path of the trail (e.g. GPS coordinates from an actual hike)?
I found GPS coordinates on various other websites. I just put all the coordinates together and put them in the right order. Let me know if you think of any other features that would be useful.
That is incredible.... good job, will definitely save that link
WTG - Great maps. Thank you very much.
You are never too old.
Sadly after 20 years, eecs.utk.edu will no longer host these AT web pages.
The pages have moved to

The site includes GPS data for shelters, elevation profiles, and google map with AT trail
