Default Simple 'no stand needed' stove...

I've been testing Zelph's Doodah stove recently and testing stoves seems to spawn new ideas for me. I hadn't made a new stove since the Turbo Tea-Lite so I took a break from testing and had some fun.

Just three materials are needed: A 24 oz. beer or energy drink can cut down to 5/8" tall, a 1" section of Budweiser aluminum bottle, and a wick from Plumber's cloth or fiberglass.

Assembled. Final weight is 12 grams

On fire. 15 ml boiled two cups in 5:40. Flame-out in 7:00

Clever, well done. I like that it sits so low to the ground. And did you repaint that Heineken pot?

You know, you guys are going to keep fooling around until you get a stove that's so efficient that it actually puts fuel back into the stove.

At which point I'll start packing Everclear as stove fuel.

Yes, the pot is painted with Hi-Temp engine enamel. Pure vanity. Doesn't affect performance good or bad.

I suspect Zelph would have a go at it, but can't be bothered since he doesn't drink.

    Just our luck.

David, please be careful. That's a real good way to get hurt. In point of fact, could I get you to reconsider this particular project? We goof around a lot on this site, which is fine, but second and third degree burns just ain't funny.

It's not even funny when you escape with merely losing your eyebrows.

    They grow back like this.

Seriously, David, what's your procedure for this?

    skidsteer,

    Nice looking stove!!

Doesn't the aluminum beer bottle piece function, in fact, as the pot holder?

Is the hollow of the bottle connected by holes to the outer can, where the wick is located?

    Thanks

    Tom

    Yes, that's it exactly.

No but it could be and I may at some point.. I just threw this one together to try it out. It holds together pretty well as is because the beer bottle piece fits exactly in the bottom ring of the beer can.

pouring more alcohol over a lit stove is a bad idea, a very very bad idea, (i learned that one from personal experience, accidental not intentional)
while it can result in smooth legs for a while, it has a few other consequences: http://www.trailjournals.com/photos.cfm?id=157473 http://www.trailjournals.com/entry.cfm?id=143591

David, we're not trying to put you down, we're concerned about your safety.

Tell you what, why don't you PM your procedure to a couple of folks you trust and see if what their take is?

What's the design goal? To simmer?

That'd be handy for some folks if you can pull it off. Stay safe.

It took all this time for me to get past my laughing spasms to be able to see the keyboard through the tears of laughter.Man that's funny Skids.

David!!!!!! If you don't stop this foolishness, I'll never speak to you again. You will be a disgrace to the "Stovie Federation" There is no need for such a procedure, there are stoves that hold enough fuel to accomplish all of our requirements. No need to re-fuel mid-burn.

Skids, nice adaptation and use of your outstanding skills. Nice photos
