Thread: Snow in Mass?

    Default Snow in Mass?

Here's an up to the day report on snow cover in Mass. This photo was taken today (April 21) on Mt Fitch about a mile north of Mt Greylock. Snow is deeply drifted, but well consolidated, so you only sink in 3 to 5 inches (I wondered why the blazes were painted so low on the trees). Still it's very wet and slow going (like hiking on sand). The summit was pretty bare today, the pavement was nice and warm, a great way to warm up cold, wet feet. Snow line is about 2200ft for full cover, spotty below that in shady areas. Lots of people out today, very sunny, slight breeze, and about 65 in the valley. Sorry for the crappy quality, I forgot my camera (and sunscreen, very crispy this evening).
