    Default Identify this snake.

    A friend saw this snake on the trail. Here's her description of it:

    " It must have been about 3ft long max (probably shorter).
    It have kind of arrow kind of head.
    It had just molted.
    Narrow black stripe on either side with reddish or brownish middle stripe.
    Not sure if their was a narrow white stripe between the black and the red/brown.
    They were 3 in #. They were under the rocks by the narrow stream near the little pond campgrounds in the Catskills."

    Can anyone identify it?

    Sounds like a garter, redbelly or ribbon if the stripes were longitudinal. Depends on the color.
