Best AT Websites?

With the closing of Trailplace.com I would like to know what other sites, besides this one, that people have found truely helpful in planning a thruhike. Maybe extend that thought to the most informative and helpful website concerning any aspect of the Appalachian Trial.

maintain a good email relationship with Jack Tarlin (Baltimore Jack) He is as close to an AT enclopedia as there is!

ALDHA gatherings! Anyone in process of comtemplating an AT thru hike.. the ADHA gathering is a must if you can possibly make it. A goldmine of information. The event is so comprehensive both Jack and Warren show up!

One site with some useful information on thruhiking (not specific to the AT, but about thruhiking in general) is thru-hiker.com (don't forget the dash between "thru" and "hiker"). The article section is pretty good (it's hit and miss, just like the article section here at WB is) and I found some particulary helpful information on dietary needs of long distance hikers there.

When tried to donate the 1st time, I couldn't. I succeeded by using the computer of a relative who regularly uses Pay Pal.

Maybe my problem had something to do with security settings? Recently I donated again without a problem.

Someone earlier in the thread mentioned the at-l email group, they can be hit or miss sometimes. Sometimes there is some great information there, sometimes it seems quite silly. I am starting to think it is part taking about the AT, but it is also about keeping in touch with your fellow AT hiker. But, if you put a general question out there, you will get many responses from many different people if it is something that has wide varied opinions. Overall, there are a lot of AT hikers on that list who are willing to give you endless amounts of information to the point of throwing your computer off the nearest cliff (possibly on your next AT hike) because there is some much information there. They are kind people who, overall, have helped me quite a bit with my planning.
