Yes. Between the outer wall of the cat food can and the inner wall of the S.S mesh is fiberglass muffler wrap for a wick. Actually, the latest version uses a solid S.S cylinder in place of the mesh.

The inner wall(mesh or solid)is a cylinder of about 2 5/16" diameter. It fits perfectly in the bottom of a Beer can pot and serves as the pot support.

also, does the SS mesh replace the need for a windscreen?
    Nope.

Send me a pm with your address and I'll send you what you need.

I used the Fancee Feest to bake meatloaf today.

I didn't see that coming. Elvis and other meatloaf lovers throughout history would be proud. Did you brave a bite? If so, how was it?

I did brave a bite, twas good!!!!!! My wife had some for breakfast today she's the meatloaf lover and prodding force that got me to make her one with the jello mold set-up. Prior to the 1 pound loaf I made 2, half pounders. I needed some practice runs to see how the smaller ones would fare.

This is quoted from my testing done on Sat. and posted on bplite.com. :

I used 1 pound ground beef for the first batch. I used 1/2 pound for the first test and second.

I used 1 ounce HEET per test. The SS StarLyte stove was used for both bake tests.

Meat cooked in 12 min each test.

Tomorrow I'll do one test using 1 pound of meat and 2 ounces of fuel in the Fancee Feest stove.

    Some photos:

I wish I could give away one stove to all hikers. The SS StarLyte would be everyones favorite.

A video/pics making fried meatloaf sandwiches with the leftovers would be great.

Blueprints are in this thread somewhere. I'll concede to mayo and catsup.

All the leftovers are gone. Next time I make a loaf I'll do a video of the leftovers showing the catsup flowing at it's best with swirls of mayoand also frying it in bacon grease Love the bacon.

This looks a lot better than a supercat for my Heine kitchen.

Maybe I'm dense, but I've read through this thread and never saw terribly explicit instructions. Of course, it looks pretty simple so it isn't hard to infer. I got some of the fiberglass muffler wrap, should I cut into strips and wind it around the center metal pot stand (between it and the can wall) or just one big strip of it?

Use one big strip enough for three times around(that depends on how thick your material is). Use scotch tape to hold it tight once wound. Tape it to the edge of the potsupport to hold it in place when you compress it into the catfood tin. have the cloth stick up 1/8" above the top of the can, no more than that. Just enough to touch with a match or lighter. The tighter you wind it, the more efficient it is. Tight is good. If it burns too fast, use less wraps around the support. The material in the photo is 1/16" thick.

The more that make their own the less I sell I'd rather be hiking.

so i read about the SS mesh lantern replacements kmart had and all the big clearances people found. apparently they were clearing space for the new glass globe replacements and don't carry the SS anymore, in my area anyway. suggestions for materials to replace using the mesh?

Mind you, I haven't fired the thing up yet but I found a pot strainer at Walmart that had a big sticker on it that said "stainless steel". It was only a couple of bucks and I think it'll work fine.

You can still find the S.S. globes at Academy for $5-6.

I haven't tried it but a section of Budweiser aluminum bottle would be an exact fit as well.
