so really all i'm looking for is something to smash the fiberglass up against the edges of the stove that doubles as a potstand huh?
so i don't forget. thanks skids and zelph for your help on these projects. in 2 weeks or so i'll probably be asking the ins and outs of the starlyte
scientific fact ice is warmer than snow
" YOU'RE MAD!" "... Thank goodness for that, Because if I wasn't this would probably never work." AT thru hiker advice from CAPN jack sparrow
also antarctica is considered a desert climate
i saw one of these at the store last week and am giving it some thought. if i could cut the bottom of it it should expand to the size of the fancie feast can. not sure about stability or how it'll hold up to the heat over an extended period of time though

I still don't understand. Cats don't have opposable thumbs. How do they light the stove?
Should work, buy the 4.5 inch one.
Wrap the fiberglass cloth around the inside of the can first. Use scotch tape to hold it there. Cut the mesh out of the ring. form the mesh so the cut edge will go into the can first to the bottom of the can. Your pot will rest on the flattend hump of the mesh.
I hope it works. It will be a new way to make a stove.
hehehe. i think i'll give it a try. if not i always have the option to take it out and try another material
i'm also currently pondering ideas on how to make a collapsible windscreen. i'm sick of having to mess w/ my baking pan one everytime i take it out of the pot. it's all distorted and bendy. i'm thinking on how i could make one that would fit snugly b/t my cookpot and my homemade cozy. i use a bigger pot than most do (1.3 L) so my windscreen often has to be a little on the larger size
oh btw what's the recommended distance of the potstand? how far should my pot sit above the lip of the can?

lol nice
nope. worked too much today and i have basketball tonight. i plan on picking up the drain cover tomorrow. what is that cloth you have b/t the can and the SS? is that what the fiberglass stuff you sent me looks like when it's heated?
It's exhaust manifold wrap. Available at automotive stores. Use the stuff I sent you. What I used was handy at the time. I'm short on time but am able to help you out a little at a time. I'm gettin ready to go on vacation and am just in a tizzy Have fun with your project!!!!
i've run into a snag cutting down the FF. tin snips destroyed my 1st can. the drain cover is going to work nicely though. the pot sits on it pretty well
Do you have a Dremel tool?
