This post brings back memories of my 25th... Pine Gove Furnace State Park, and a burning toothpic in my half gallon as they were out of candles.

Sugar Shock for 25 hours followed!!

Birthdays on the trail are great.

I've NEVER had a birthday party on the Trail, tho come to think of it, this is probably not such a bad thing.

In that I'm usually hiking Northbound, a Trailside birthday party on 12 November is probably a lousy idea in this neck of the woods.

5-Olde seems to make more sense.

I had a birthday on the trail during my thru in 2003 - July 18th, to be exact.

Probably one of the more unforgettable ones since I hiked a long day and expected to run into a group of hikers that night. Arrived at the William Penn Shelter, set up camp and started cooking dinner. Ended up being the ONLY hiker there that night !!

Oh well ...who's counting, right ??

In 1998, I celebrated my birthday (May 19th), by crossing into Pennsylvania. I crossed the Mason-Dixon line!

In 2002, my birthday was celebrated on the flanks of Mt. Baden-Powell watching an approaching storm move in. On May 20th, it snowed all day!

Last year, I started the CDT a bit too late to celebrate my birthday on the trail.

This past year, I celebrated my birthday in Boulder at a my friends' house.

The birthday weekend, however, was celebrated in Wyoming at Pelton Creek in the Medicine Bows. It ended with a delcious salmon dinner with reisling wine at Footslogger and BA's abode in Laramie, WY. Not a bad birthday.

    2008? Who knows!

Default Light the candles...unless there's a burning ban.

July 26th, 2009 I plan on observing my 55th on the trail.

You sure do know how to ruin an upbeat conversation. It is nice to hear everyone talking quite confidently about their hike, that is a good thing.
