    Default Water at Lambert's Meadow?

Anyone been here within the past couple of weeks (9-14-07 or later?). The Campbell Shelter spring was flowing freely in march, but I hear that it was dry as of 9-20. I was going to camp there this weekend (10-05-07) on a trek to McAfee Knob, but may need to switch my plans from SOBO to NOBO to have a reliable water source at night.

    Any advice is welcome!

    Thanks!

I was there this weekend, the source at the shelter is rather dry, no real continuous flowing stream left but a few pools. I filtered some from a larger pool to the right. I was headed north and if you go maybe half a mile you will recross the stream and pass a primitive campsite. The water was flowing very well there, worth the walk if the source at lamberts is still skanky.

Good water was available at the shelter and the pig farm camping area about .1 mile south of the shelter as of 10 July 2008

I was there 9/19 and the water was just a trickle, but it was flowing. I kinda wish they put the shelter further down in the meadow. It's much nicer there.

Anyone have an update on the water flow around Lambert's Meadow? I'm headed there this weekend and I'm a little concerned about water availability.

Exclamation I'll answer this question every place it's asked

I stayed at Lambert's Meadow two nights ago. There is a small stream flowing in the stream bed -- more than a trickle, but not much more. You'll have to build a dam to make a deep enough puddle to suck water out of the stream and into your filter. Filling a water jug without silt is going to be problematic. But it's still better than the completely dry situation along most of The Trail in this section.
