Ditto all what you said on NY. Just got back tonight (10/8) and it's super-dry out there. It rained overnight on 10/6 and in the morning you couldn't even tell. Everything was just like powder. We filtered out of Beechy Bottom but it was just standing pools, not good at all. I hear rain is on the way this week and all I can say is, it's about time. Everything on the ground is just withered and yellow.

I was out on Sept 30th from River Rd. in Kent and went to Silver Hill.
The stream was dry at Stewart hollow.
Stream and Stony Brook campsite was running.
I did not check the pump at Sivler Hill because the sign at the end of River Rd. said "pump out of service"
Seems like that pump has been out of service for a year.

Seems strange walking next to the Housatonic River looking for water sources,
but I read there was alot of chemical pollution in that river and do not drink from it.

Just finished at trip from Port Clinton to DWG on 10/7, heres where I found water:
Windsor Furnace, none at the shelter but there is a stream just south of the shelter.
    Eckville Shelter, spigot
Allentown Shelter, spring 1/2 mile down hill
Blue Mt. B&B at Rt. 309, spigot at rear of building
George Outerbridge Shelter, spring on trail
Palmerton, I got water in town while picking up food
Metallica spring down the blue trail known as the Winter Trail after crossing the rocks north of Palmerton
Stampa Spring near Smith Gap has water but I got some at Mechanical Mans home, thanks Linda!
Leroy Smith Shelter had water in the spring farthest downhill
    Gateway Motel at Wind Gap
Kirkridge Shelter has a spigot behind the shelter.

    Hope this helps

Happy to return the favor. I learned alot from the Hammock Forum after I bought a Hennessy Hammock Hyper Light and read many of the post by Hammock Engineer. Is HE keeping a journal online?

Thanks for the info, I'm keeping a TJ at www.trailjournals.com/nater .

I was at Raugsh Gap (spelling) 2 nights ago. The water was dripping, the metal pan was full of water. I don't think I would trust it to keep going, it rained some in the days before I got there. The spring mentioned somewhere else off of the railroad bed was flowing good. There is a good little stream a mile or so north of the railroad bridge. Although it is downstream of the old cemetary.

Peter's Mountain Shelter spring is flowing, low but refilling. The springs listed on the map 5 or 6 miles north of the shelter on the AT are flowing good.
