    Smile Another one joining

Hey thought I'd introduce myself, my name is Alex, I'm from New York, and I've finally committed to thruhike 2008.

I'm just starting to plan and finding it overwhelming, but have found this site to be very helpful.

I'm planning on an early start, februaryish Northbound.

I guess I`ll ask my standard question I ask anyone I meet who says they are planning a thru-hike......Why?
Sometimes you can't hear them talk..Other times you can.
The same old cliches.."Is that a woman or a man?"
You always seem out-numbered..You don't dare make a stand.

Best of luck. I'm just a little envious...NOT I'm A LOT envious!! Keep us posted on your progress in planning. Don't hesitate to ask anything. The folks on here will give all viewpoints and you can take it from there.
"It was on the first of May, in the year 1769, that I resigned my domestic happiness for a time, and left my family and peaceable habitation on the Yadkin River, in North Carolina, to wander through the wilderness of America." - Daniel Boone
