Of course they were near the water sources so people tried but the rangers would come buy every night and check.
we were camping one night about 80 yards away and the ranger came and stood on top of the fireplace and did a 360. He said: "what color is your tent" I told him it was orange and he said "i can see it, move it"
Thus stealth camping was born.
They've got those virtually-unused (according to a SNP ranger I talked to) day shelters such as Byrd's #3 & #4 that could be helpful for spreading out the pack at night, but they have dog-in-the-manger syndrome about them...
