Bat Cave, NC! Too cool! That's the gateway city to Hendersonville, NC. I know exactly where Bat Cave is.

I spent a month in Hendersonville one week, and I've done that many times. One of Famous Huge International Corporation's (the one that pays me big bucks to spend hours each day monitoring White Blaze) production facilities is there. Occasionally I am tasked to go there and drink gallons of Diet Coke while watching an understaffed crew try to make textiles that their equipment was not designed to produce. My function is to inform the crew that the material does not meet specifications. The crew already knows that. But 'FHIC' pays me an obscene, absolutely pornographic, amount of money to do it and they've been willing to do it for many years.

Hey, it's a living. I can't complain. It beats sitting in a cubicle.

But that's not important now. What is important is that as I'm driving into Hendersonville and while still on the outskirts of Bat Cave the Blue Ridge and the route of the AT can easily be seen in the background. But very near Bat Cave I pass a sign that tells me that I have crossed the Eastern Continental Divide. I always thought the ECD was the Blue Ridge.

I guess I'm wrong. So geography's not one of my strenths.

Anyway, good going to the Bat Caver. Congratulations!

It's also really close to Chimney Rock Park, where lots of Last of the Mohicans was filmed.

It's a really pretty part of the state.

More importantly, Hendersonville has a joint that knows how to properly BBQ chicken.

Their brisket and pulled pork aren't bad but their smoked chicken halves are heavenly.

But don't ask for mustard sauce. Trust me on this. That would be a deadly serious faux paus.

Belated congrats to Batman. I met him just north of High Point last summer.
