    Default Help identifying a shelter

I found this picture a month or so ago but forgot to label where it is and now I can't find the link that led to it. Can someone identify this shelter and the body of water it overlooks? Looking for a section hike and this has my attention.

    Thanks,

    Flying Eagle

Shelter kinda looks like Fingerboard but can you see the lake from it ?? Does it sit up that high with respect to the lake ??

That is the Hudson River. So the shelter is West Mountain. Take it to the bank.

This shelter is labeled correctly as West Mt Shelter. However, I don't think the link proves anything. Isn't it just the original picture reposted?

This shelter is very far off the trail and most skip it. I highly recommend spending the night. The night views of New York are great.

In reading his post, he was looking for the original link and for help in identifying the shelter. The shelter was identified, and the above posted link was the original link, as posted by Refereeman, complete with his stellar description of the shelter and its' surroundings.

Not Fingerboard and not O'Brien. West Mtn. fits the bill.

I've been to all of the NY shelters multiple times, in every season, over numerous years, and I have to agree with those who say it's West Mountain.

I stayed a night there last year, and took my time leaving the next morning, so got a good look at it.
