Default Trail conditions just north of Monson

Does anyone happen to know what type of shape the trail 3-5 miles north of Monson is in? I be doing a small day hike with my school in there on Thursday.

    Default Charlie don`t surf

Watch out for the old school bus and dune buggies along the side..And avoid any bald headed girls with X's carved into their foreheads...Oh wait..You said "Monson"..Never mind
Sometimes you can't hear them talk..Other times you can.
The same old cliches.."Is that a woman or a man?"
You always seem out-numbered..You don't dare make a stand.

Well, I'm a little west of you, but have you looked outside today? Unless someone else breaks trail for you, it's gonna be slow going.

    Default Snowshoes anyone?

There was at least 14 inches of snow on the ground before the last three snowfalls we had. That includes the big storm a few days ago. The weather is predicting another moderate or possibly heavy snowfall on Wednesday eve. or Thursday. The low pressure may back westward (norlands trough Sp.) after forming a storm on the ocean.

I was up there about ten days ago and there was more snow in Monson than Greenville which had 14 inches.

Well... you will have the pack down the first 3 miles to Leman Brook Lean to, at which point you will hit 1-2 miles of packed trail, followed by 95 miles of unpacked snow.

    Enjoy!

Snow guns make lots of snow, and when situated next to the snow depth gauge makes for big numbers like you posted. Being familiar with how ski resorts operate, i take those numbers with a grain of snow.

Ain't no way 14' of natural snow has fallen on Jay peak already this year.
Those gauges are located on the leeward side of the mountain where snow(manmade too) blows off the top where it drifts and settles in.
The numbers sound great to attract skiers though!

    Jealous of what?
    Jay Peak's exaggerated snowfall amounts?
If you aren't in the Jay Peak area now, where did you get those numbers? From the ski area's marketing hot line?

It's on their website. 173" total this year. Stowe is quoting 115". There's been a lot of snow here and more the further west you go. 63" at Jay just this week. Probably a best case measurement, but there has been a heck of a lot of snow around here for this early in the season.

Send some of that to the southeast. We're in serious drought!
