Default Black Candidate wins in New Hampshire!!

The election results are in and Marty has been chosen as the new mascot at The Mt. Washington Observatory. The runners-up, Sarah and Wilson may still be available if you can offer a good home: http://www.conwayshelter.org/

    Winner: Marty
Your voice was heard! On January 8, more than 8,000 votes were cast in the Mount Washington Mascot Primary, the contest to choose the next feline mascot of the Mount Washington Observatory and New Hampshire's top cat. Thanks to all who participated in the election. Here are the results:
Marty – 53% Wilson – 26% Sarah – 21% Special thanks to the Conway Area Humane Society for their help throughout this process! We look forward to welcoming our new mascot to the summit.

The way the thread is written, humor would be perfect, although some people take this very seriously. There must be someone out there who followed this election more closely than that other one that does not really matter.

If I had known-- and were eligible to vote in New Hampshire-- I would have voted for Wilson. His long face gives him a mien of intelligence and sensibleness.

Default another color helps determine the election outcome....

Dessertrat-"If I had known-- and were eligible to vote in New Hampshire-- I would have voted for Wilson."
There were no residency requirements in this election. However, Wilson would have been disqualified if he had won because one of the requirements for this office is that the winner had to, as they used to say in grade school, "play well with others". One of the State Park employees has a Golden named "Red" who visits often and Wilson couldn't stand dogs while Marty does.

Name recognition played a big part in the election results as well. Marty Engstrom was a true legend on the mountain having worked for WMTW TV for 38 years when it was on the summit and it only seemed fitting that the tradition of having "Marty on the mountain" was carried on.

When I first heard that Nin was going to retire as the mascot, I told my wife that I was going to call and give them her cat, Pumpkin.

    This is Pumpkin:

I suspect that she'll kill me when I tell her my offer was accepted and that Pumpkins new name is Marty.

I thought my cat 'Frostbite' would have made the perfect mascot. If you look at her ear in the photo of her sleeping you'll see how she got her name. She lost half of both ears because she wasn't smart enough to come in out of the cold. Not that wind chill had nothing to do with it.

    Steve,
That is hilarious. Women LOVE when you tell them of some sort of demise of their cat.
Then they claim that you love the cat more than they do anyways - which is usually true.
    Damn girls.

I remember Marty well. My local tv station used to carry him when I was a kid. He had a funny nasally voice. (I grew up just outside of Augusta, Maine).

No disrepect to Marty, but I can respect a cat that don't take no guff off of a dog. And Wilson is a handsome devil, and the name of Tom Hanks's companion in castaway.

I am not easily swayed from my catidate! (I mean, candidate).
