    Default I-40?

I think I'll go down to the AT where it crosses my road and wait on Karl.
I'd like to help the crew out if they're there. Gas here in Hartford is $3.80
I also hope if they're planning on hookin up with Karl that Waterville School Road's name was changed 15 yrs. ago to Green Corner Rd. I noticed that on his web site.

OK, so I inquired at the corner Hess/Wilco this morning as to why they were completely out of gas. They said "it's the media getting people all worked up".
Looks like I'll be working from home next week.

    Default Karl @ I-40 @ 10:15 am

I found Karl's parents on the Southside of I-40 waiting on Karl and then about 15 minutes later he shows up. He hung out for 2 minutes, ate a cinnamon roll and moved on.
I just don't know about the support vehicle (it's a 27ft RV right?). They where supposed to hook up with Karl at Davenport Gap! I think that's crazy. Its hard enough to get my pickup truck up there & besides its only 2 AT miles from I-40.
The folks told me that support needed to make make a RV dump and get fuel.
    That's all

I hope there's no cars going the other way. I remember there being a lot of narrow curves on that unpaved road up to Davenport Gap

And then there are the Floridians that travel for the fall colors and the cooler temps.

No. Off by about 9-10 days due to injury. But he's still plugging away.

Wish I lived closer, I'd love to be at Springer and cheer for him. But alas, not gonna happen... Hope there's a nice group when he gets there.

New guess because he is really kicking butt today..going at 4.1 mph. So he could arrive at Newfound Gap as early as 6:10.
    GO KARL!

Take away the 4 zeros and the slower days around the injury and he would have had a reasonable shot. Better chance next time. Good on him to finish it out. I would think that he will be glad he made that decision.
That's my dog, Echo. He's a fine young dog.

Kind of like Lance Armstrong back in the day, riding all the significant parts of the Tour before the race, planning where to ease off and where to hit it hard.
    If not NOW, then WHEN?

FYI, Lance is coming out of retirement and planning to race in the 2009 Tour.
