Cool newbie north bound thru hiker

Hi all, I am a new member to this forum and I am planing a thru hike for mid march. A co-worker of mine did a thru hike in 2001 and he has given me some great advice. I am wondering who will be joining me on this mighty journey.

p.s. my trail name is phil mill.

My girlfriend and I originally planned on a start date near to Feb 28th. We've now had to revise it, due to Visas and needing more cash, to March 23rd.

Let's just hope the lovely chaps at the US Embassy will let me in.

hello everybody. I'm a newbie setting off in late March. Pretty much new to hiking alltogether, but determined. So I hope to see some of you there. You'll recognize me as the guy just off the trail a mile up, gasping for air.
    I can't wait to go!

    Hey Matt, remember this song:

    Crosby, Nash
    Immigration Man

There I was at the immigration scene
    Shining and feeling clean
    Could it be a sin?
I got stopped by the immigration man
He says he doesn't know if he can
    Let me in

    Let me in, immigration man
Can I cross the line and pray
    I can stay another day
    Let me in, immigration man
I won't toe your line today
    I can't see it anyway, hey-y

There he was with his immigration face
    Giving me a paper chase
    But the son was coming
'Cause all at once he looked into my space
And stamped a number over my face
    And he sent me running

Won't you let me in, immigration man
Can I cross the line and pray
    I can stay another day
Won't you let me in, immigration man
I won't toe your line today
    I can't see it anyway

Here I am with my immigration form
It's big enough to keep me warm
    When a cold wind's coming
    So go where you will
As long as you thing you can
You'd better watch out - watch out for the man
    Anywhere you're going

Come on and let me in, immigration man
Can I cross the line and pray
Take your fingers from the tray
    Let me in, irritation man
I won't toe your line today
    I can't see it anyway

    Default 1 st timer too

this will be my first time ever backpacking for more then a couple days. I plan to start late march early april depending on the weather. I'll be going alone ( no one I know wants or can go with me) but hopefully I meet some nice people along the way. I've been thinking of doing this for a few years, ever since I read the book -A walk in the woods.
