    Default "AT" Class of 2013

I will retire in 4-years (43-years with same employer), July 2012, and the Lord willing at 66yo plan to be part of the "AT" Class of 2013.

    Any other class-mates out there?

Actually yes. 2013 is my earliest target year. The fall of 2012 is the earliest my son could take over the business. If he chooses to do such I would have 6 months to break him in and then take off.

I'll be 55 at that time so here's to hoping.

I have 5 years, 6 months before I will be able to begin drawing my pension. I plan to semi retire then and start hiking. Fall of 2014 for a Long Trail or Colorado Trail thru, Spring of 2015 for AT or PCT thru. I should have completed the AT in sections by then, so will probably head west for a PCT thru. Could change my mind, but that is the current plan.

It was just the other day that I sat down and figured this out. I'M GETTING CLOSE!!! I hadn't realized that before - not sure if this is good, didn't realize I was so OLD!!!

I'm new here, but I'm planning on a Thru-Hike the same time you all are.

I still have 2013 in my sights for a thru. Plan is to leave the office in control of my son. Wife and I would then take off for Florida in early Feb, buy and RV, and head north. I'd have a late Feb start penciled in. We would move the RV north every 10-14 days (whatever works best). She could explore the country on her own terms as I move north. I would still hike as a regular backpacker but get to sleep in my own bed once a week or so.

I'm hoping for 2012, but that will probably be a year of section hikes and maybe 2013.

I have been toying with the idea of a 2013 AT thru, but financial obligations may keep me from that. I have not yet given up on the year. Work rules may change by then making it more difficult to pull off a 6 month LOA.

    Default class of 2013

My husband and I are planning at Flip flop on 2013. We want to pay off all of our debt and then save for our thru. That should bring us right around Feb of 2013. After the hike we are going to start a family.

I'm planning on doing it again in 2013.

I plan on selling my business and living off an annuity starting in jan of 2013.

But I will not start before April.
