    Default Hey

I guess I'm the new guy here. I'm tryint get some info on the Appalachian Trail. My brother and I are interested (Me more so than he) in Hiking it when we get back from Iraq in may. Or atleast a portion. And I guess I don't really know where to start. Just researching gear has proven to be an overwhelming task. To add to things, my time on unsecured networks is very limited considering how much I don't know and how soon around the corner this trip could be. Any suggestions, would be fantastic.

    Thanks
    Kevin

Hey, welcome to WhiteBlaze kevin.hockeborn . You still have plenty of time to get ready for a good hike. Just look around the boards and ask about anything your not sure about.

, Kevin. LOTS of good info on this site. Read lots - ask questions.

Start with finding a good pair of trail runners that fit you well. That (and a bottle of water) is all you need for a short hike.

I hope you guys get home safe.
