Hi Everyone -
I'm a novice hiker and new to whiteblaze. I'm planning a thru hike starting March 3, 2009. I'm looking for anyone else leaving the same time and any planning advice... I can't wait!!!
Hey all! Great forum! I'm planning a thru in 2010 and think this site will be very helpful thanks for the wealth of knowledge and I really like this little guy.
Hey, I've been lurking for awhile but decided to register. I am planning a thru-hike for whenever I get out of the army and this site is a nice way to dream about it
Welcome, Alli. Thank you for your service in the army, and good luck with your future dream hike!
Hello to my fellow hikers! I just joined this site today because I wanted to know more about the AT. I'm a 33 year old disabled who's going to be doing a thru-hike with my dog starting sometime in August/September. I just wanted to thank you for this website. It's very informative!
Hello All, Just dropping in, figured I would introduce myself, this seems like the place to do it so here it goes.
Developed my love for backpacking about ten years back while walking/patrolling all around the the area known as Hawk Mountain/ Camp Merrill in Georgia. Which is basically the same vicinity as the southern end of the AT. Since I got out the Wife and I have taken many trips usually trying to involve some section of the AT. So far we've done several sections in Shenadoah NP, and GSMNP. We have a 1 week trip planned this coming May 12-18 in GSMNP. I came over here because I am trying to track the NOBO thru hiker herd and estimate if we will be able to Hike the AT at that time or if we should just avoid it because of the expected overcrowding in the shelters (yes I do still like to lose civilization while I am in the woods.
Otherwise its good to be here..
RLTW,
Thanks for a great website.
Planning a section hike with my 14 year old son in June At Springer north to Hot Springs.
Any North GA advice for June?
I grew up on the trail in North New Jersey.
They re routed the trail onto land purchased from my grandfather.
The AT was my highway.
