    Default Weather in Catawba?

I am thinking about driving down to Catawba and taking a hike up McAfee Knob. Anyone know what the trail conditions are? I won't go if there is a layer of ice on the ground.

I haven't been up there in awhile but in Roanoke it's 38 now, I guess it could be 10 degrees colder up there. Almost all of the ice and snow has melted around here.

You could go up the alternative route. Turn right when the trail comes to the fire road, follow that road for about a mile and take the first gated road coming in from the left and follow that to the top. Less rocks and if you keep an eye out you'll come across an old homestead which is interesting to check out and also has the best spring on the mtn. You might come across some patches of ice and snow but not enough to keep you away. Have fun.
