That would make you fit in well with the majority of the dog owners on the trail.

Yup, but I would be careful grouping all dog owners with this particular one.

Note that I did not say "all" dog owners. I have hiked with a few hikers (very few) who took their dogs with them and I enjoyed hiking with them. Also note that both the dogs and their owners were well behaved and the dogs didn't sleep in shelters.

I know, I just wanted to make sure no one took your remarks the wrong way, especially the one you were specifically calling out.

That's okay. Gave me a giggle with my coffee.

Okay, let's throtle this back a notch. Fun in one thing, but let's not bring in the truly challenged.

This has been said before, but it bears repeating: This is a crazy-ass year for ticks. When I was in Shenendoah Park last week, that's what everyone was talking about. Everone, without exception, was all ticked out.

And needless to say, this would go for dogs, too.

Bringing a vermin-infested animal into a small place where other folks sit, cook, hang out, and most of all, sleep, isn't cool. Your dog belongs in your tent, period.

Please note that most hikers take their dog out of their tent before packing the tent.

Makes the stuff sack all lumpy if you don't.

ok, first of all, it's obvious that i am pro-dog but anti-shelter. Secondly, I don't impose my dogs on others because that's just me.
    However....
I think it would be a good thing if everyone remembers that your opinion is just that. an opinion. and your opinion is not the do-all, end-all of ever conversation. try to be a little more open-minded while you're shoving your opinion down other peoples' throats.
It's doing the opposite of what you might think or what you are truly trying to accomplish. It's like those bible beater people on the corner. I am a firm Christian but if I wasn't those people telling me I'm going to hell would sure scare me in the other direction.
If you think this is not the case, see post #721. Once again, I don't want my dog to impose on anybody else's comfort, but DO NOT tell me what I am going to do with my dog. Ask nicely, calmly state an opinion, rationalize with me, but don't preach like you are God. Pisses me off and makes want to piss you right back off. It doesn't accomplish anything except alienating dog lovers and dog haters, essentially drawing a line of discrimintation. Can't we all just get along without each and every person being the "right" one?
