    Question Mt Rogers (Deep Gap)

The Deep Gap Shelter area just south of Mt Rogers has been closed for a few years to tenting due to overuse. Just up a side trail, uphill and southbound there is another area with nice sites, about 300 yards south of the closed area. (The spring still flows at the old shelter site)

    1. Does anyone know when the Deep Gap tenting area will be reopened?

    2. Did y'all know the removed Deep Gap shelter is now on 'display' in the park in Damascus (west end of town)? ( I know you know this LW, and I think I read it in the data book or companion)

    Question Additional question

Has anyone ever stayed at the Deep Gap shelter before it was removed, and do you have photos of what it looked like in place?

    Default Deep Gap

And is the spring there by the former shelter site still a reliable water source?

Yeah I stayed at the shelter a few times before it was moved to Damascus and yes the sprig there is very reliable.
