Samaria Gorge, Crete
Has anyone hiked this gorge?
I hiked down the gorge, but did not continue to the end. I understood that you could hike south to the coast and get a shuttle to take you back to the top. We did see a few mountain goats, and the drive up was very scenic. I guess we hiked a few miles to the bottom, and then hiked back out.
This trail is amazingly beautiful. The key is definitely to get there as early as possible to avoid crowds though. VERY early. This hike made me think about the AT and then complete a SoBo thru last year. Remember to bring your bathing suit to go swimming at the end. If I go again I'd stay in the town at the end of the hike. Such a beautiful hike. Hell yes.
