    Default Fires near Trinity Alps/Shasta?

News this morning of fires near Trinity Alps/Shasta. I plan to be hiking there in about six weeks' time. Any one have any further news or links on the location of the fires with respect to the PCT?

If you are referring to the Clover fire, the origin is centered on the PCT, see map no. 6

The Clover fire mentions Kennedy Meadows which is quite a distance from the section I'm thinking of. The section I'm thinking of runs from Castella (on I-5) to Etna. Officially, "Section P" of the PCT. I never gave much thought to forest fires while hiking the AT -- except that time when my Svea blew up.

These 2 links seems to work and talk about fires from lightning in the Trinity Alps:

Here is a page with contact info for the Hayfork District:

This page mentions McCloud which i think is just south of Castella.

I am having a hard time relating the news stories to the area.

If anyone calls the ranger station , pls let us know the impact on the PCT. THx.

Thanks for the links, Fannypack. These will be very helpful. One of the links talks about temperatures in then 90s. And here I was worrying about taking a summerweight bag in August. I gotta see if REI is carrying asbestos suits.

    ......
    here is map, http://maps.google.com/maps?f=d&hl=e...1,4.812012&z=8
which shows the area and it seems that MAYBE the fire is west of I-5 and south of the PCT.

Looking at the Google map, I believe the PCT would be coming from Mt Lassen area (east of I-5) and crosses I-5 at Castella....

So it seems that the Trinity Alps wilderness maybe very, very large,,,
