Default Want to hear (read) your best Hiking quotes

Just want to hear some of the diverse things people have gathered in their brain along countless hours of trails sky and pain. Always inspirational for me!

    Heres one.

"The AT is not about luck, but rather the willingness to put up with extreme pain with a smile on your face while somewhere very close to the fringes of sanity" -Homer&Marje Happy trails

i like this quote from there........

I can only meditate when I am walking. When I stop, I cease to think; my mind only works with my legs.

I'm so confused, I'm not sure if I lost my horse or found a rope.

    There were days
    and there were days
and there were days I know
    when all we ever wanted
was to learn and love and grow
Once we grew into our shoes
we told them where to go
    walked halfway around the world
    on promise of the glow
    stood upon a mountain top
    walked barefoot in the snow
gave the best we had to give
how much we'll never know we'll never know

    - Days Between, Robert Hunter/Jerry Garcia

Thanks. I've seen that in book form, but a PDF is quite useful.

From the title of Model T (J.R. Tate's) book,
Walking on the Happy Side of Misery

That is difficult for a lot of people to comprehend but thru hikers, long distance hikers, and especially section hikers truly understand it.

The following is a collection of quotes from a Yahoo group I helped to maintain in the past.

The group has since transitioned to a website designed and maintained in part by a thru-hiker buddy of mine now located in Boulder: Mike "d-low" DiLorenzo.
Most of the quotes were chosen by me. I found the quotes from my readings, cribbed from other sites or just happened to hear. A few I chose for a specific day (e.g. Halloween). A few were chosen by friends when I went away on vacation and they handled the e-mail list. Most, but not all, the quotes are outdoor and/or adventure related The really oddball quotes are probably by my buddy Josh . :-D

Have the quotes up to Spring 2006 from just before I left for the CDT. I also have extra quotes that I like and never used.

    Enjoy!
