    Default Elk Garden

Anyone know if VA 600 at Elk Garden is a safe place to leave a vehicle for
    two days in early Sept....Bumpa

I haven't heard much recently, but that was break-in/vandalism central for years. Not much to do down there in Grayson County, apparently.

Parking at Grayson Highlands state park is safe, but I won't leave a car anywhere else down there.

I left my truck there for one night several weeks ago with no problems. There were many other cars there that looked fine.

I haven't heard any problems of late. Whitetop is pretty friendly. I know a few people that drop their cars off there. Graysons would be a safer beat since the park rangers patrol it regularly.

Why don't you just leave your car in Damascus and shuttle?

This way you won't have that worry on your back.

    Have fun!

A buddy and I started there and left his car parked there last October without incident for a weekend. The lot was almost full, and none of other vehicles were vandalized.

I know folks who have parked at the trailheads at 603 or at the little road that branches off of Rt. 58 (crosses the trail before Buzzard Rocks) for three straight years for three-day hikes through the Highlands and they've never had a problem. Vehicles left at the trailheads weren't junkers, either.
