That is a great area Doggiebag and myself did it this past April and had a blast. I don't think that it will work to meet up this time I hope that by those dates I will be almost if not completly out o e park headed south. I know the start of my trip is firm the back end is a bit still open I think that I may be able to stay out as late as the 29th on this little trip and still have enough spoucel karma saved up to do a 3 or 4 day trip in Oct to wrap up Ct/Mass

I might be interested in joining you if it's late Sep. How many miles do you think you'll be doing each day?

I have not done the park before but most people say that 20 a day through the park is very easy to do. Less the first day as that is where the big climb of the trip is getting up onto othe ridge line.

When you get your dates firmed up - let me know so I can help you shuttle into the trailhead and back out to your vehicle when you're done. It's the least I could do for all the folks you've been helping up north.

The Bird Cage is one of the two places in the town of Dalton Mass that you can stay in town. Tom Levardi is the other guy who lets hikers stay at his place as well.

Looks like I'll see you guys in the park. Plan is shuttle to Rockfish Gap (wife) on the 21st then go until I reach Harpers Ferry and Amtrak back to Va Beach. Should be fun. Anyone esle up for a NOBO?? The SOBO just won't work out due to my sons hockey games in Richmond on the 20th.

Retirement from the Navy on Oct 17th... need time beforehand to get things in order, hence the mid-Sept start.

We will have to keep an eye out for each other as we pass in the park. Plan as still pretty open right now for me but thinking that I would almost like to just get on the trail with no plans for anything other than to walk south until its time to get home. You know let all the stuff in the middle sort itself out.

Looks lke I am going to sit around the house and fatten up for a while, lost a little over 40 pounds on the thru-hike.

This is a good area and 20 mile days will be easy for you, your hiking harder stuff around your house. Looks like the weather will be in your favor also.

will drop you a call tonight.

I know you like to cook with grease so i'll try to find a recipe for Deep Fried Twinkie's that will be sure to add the lbs right back on to you in on time at all.

Counting the days until my hike and until I go and get this tooth yanked. I feel like i have lost a few days time to the haze that is Vicoden.
