Canister Stove Qs

So for my 10 and 11 Thru hikes I'll be carrying a pocket rocket part of the way. To the question, what is the largest canister MSR sells? All I can find is a 4oz and I know that can't be the largest they sell.

I see 8 0z size online.

But I preferred Snowpeak for performance. Outlasted the MSR and better in colder conditions.

500g snowpeaks coming soon. I could cook for a couple weeks with that bad boy.

Primus sells a very large (16 oz?) canister that will fit the same kinds of canister stoves. It's the best proportion of fuel weight vs. empty canister weight, but it's kinda heavy to carry at the beginning. Those little 4 oz canisters are cute, but half the weight is the empty can. But they last me forever just boiling 2 cups of water for a FBC dinner.

Mtnkngxt - remembering your earlier thread concerning lighter gear, consider esbit fuel tablets. You can make your own stove and stand and have the lightest and most compact stove available. For an interesting comparison on stove efficiencies, check out the article on thruhiker.com.

A 4 oz canister can last you a couple weeks depending on how you use it. You don't net to carry an 8oz or 160z canister to make it between most resupplies

The small canisters lasted me a solid 2 weeks, sometimes longer.
