    Default Black bean

Picked up some Fantastic Foods dehydrated black beans and was looking for some ideas other than wraps and burritos.

I started out my black bean enjoyment with FF's powdered beans.
But since then i've learned that if i cook up my own and spice them the way i like them and then dehydrate them myself they are MUCH better.

I sometimes just add them to mac and cheese or Lipton dinners for some protein.
Mostly though it's burritos or soup.

The way i do it, you still have the whole beans instead of just black powder.
I cook them slightly adante' before drying so that there still is some bite to them even after rehydrating.

    Good luck.

Love Fiddleheads idea, whatever you would cook at home with them, then dehydrate a meal. I recently dehydrated cantalope rolled in powdered sugar and ginger!Candy!Go online or to the library and see how many things can be dehydrated you'll be amazed.

Betcha Black Beans would really go well with rice. Wonder if anyone has tried it.

I also like the idea of using dehydrated black/refried beans.

But I am looking more for FBC options......something I can add them to that is quick and easy

carry the pre-cooked chicken breast in a foil pack. pack away some jerk seasoning (just wad some up in a bit of plastic wrap.) Also have a packet of olive oil.

I use a sno-peak pot, so it has the little fry-pan cover on top...anyways...
Heat the olive oil and drop the chicken (cut into strips) into the pan and heat up while adding the jerk seasoning.

cook the beans up in your regular large pot.
    mix it all together.
    enjoy.

cook some rice, too, in a freezer bag if that's what you want.

I have posted recipes using the black beans in the past couple years here You mean I need to go find them for you all?

But yeah, they make a great black bean dish to serve over rice - add in peppers, onions, whatever you like. I make a great thick soup with them

    ummm

    Onions
    Red peppers
    Garlic
    Smoked ham hocked or
    Smoked neckbone
    Yellow cornbread crumbled on top
    Hot sauce

Or you can mash it up to save as a beautiful
slather with some hot pita bread and salsa

    That sounds ... incredible.

Another "who-da thunk it" in the same vein that really rocks is dehydrated watermelon.

I carried sharp cheddar when I was able, and it makes a terrifc bean topping, esp. if you can find some of those sour cream packets.
The above, over corn or rice, would be hard to beat.
