    Default Celebrating today

Marking our one anniversary of completing the AT atop Mt. Katahdin today, Sept 18th!
What a great day that was, and perfect weather. Gave Paul Bunyan a framed shot of him at the summit today. He also took his revered walking staff to college today. And of course, I'm planning a backpack trip this weekend - not on the AT this time around, but still looking forward to being out in the woods.

    Pretty cool, Blissful.

    Some celebration, some mourning.

    Have a great weekend!

To bump and hijack Blissful's thread... today (9/19) is the first anniversary of my own AT completion. But it didn't happen at Katahdin or Springer... and was a most roundabout and extended trek. I'm thinking of hiking somewhere in the Whites this weekend but can't decide between a white-blaze or a blue-blazed trek. I haven't climbed to the Presidential ridge in eons, but rain is predicted for Sunday morning.

Today, I didn't read the entire thread before posting and saw almost what I posted right above my post by _terrapin_ who I heckled for doing the same a few days ago. It serves me right.

Almost anyone can become a 2000 miler who wants it enough to stick with it until, one day, it happens.

You're absolutely right. "exclusive" was a poor word choice.

I guess in my case it's more elusive than exclusive at the moment.

I need to get my ducks in a row.

He's working at Paneras right now and has the girlfriend. No plans to hike anytime soon. Maybe one day he will get the bug to go out again, even for a weekend. But he said he was thinking about the hike the last few days.
