Lodging in Waynesboro, Va.
Hi;
Does anybody have recent info on either Colony House Motel or Deluxe Budget Inn? Or is there a better place in Waynesboro?

Check here about the church hostel in town. I have never been there though. Don't know if it's still open for the season.
The hostel is closed for the season. I know the SoBo Carrot was looking forward to a stay there to find this out. The hiker rate at Quallity inn was like $50 and only a few blocks from the grocery store and the Chinese Buffet. I have stayed at nice places but I have stayed at worse and after 3 nights in the rain this was pretty close to heaven.
Thanks for the info. I think Quality Inn has new owners and no longer gives the hiker rate. I contacted them and was quoted around 85.00.

I just got the hiker rate like 3 days ago. I was there and checked in on Saturday.
I stayed at the Deluxe Budget Inn a couple times. I think it's like $55. Clean and okay but last time it got mighty cold in the room
Had the heater up to 80 in my room and dried everything out it did smell a bit like a footlocker in there but i was used to it and warm and dry so didn't care.
Inn At Afton... $65 a night (2007) right off the trail. Great view, nice pool, overall a bit run-down. It's well outside of town, though. It's the motel you see up on the hill across the highway, a couple miles south of the SNP gate at Rockfish Gap. Here's the view looking north (back towards SNP.)
That's the one that is still in use overlooking the burned out abandon motor lodge and old Howard Johnson's where the tourist info center is?
The Tree Street Inn B&B is a nice alternative. Within easy walking distance of the grocery store, P.0., AYCE Chinese, AYCE pancakes, etc. Will pick you up and drop you off at the visitor center.

The Quality Inn charges more on Fri and Sat. Stayed there recently and they do have a decent breakfast that is included. Make your own waffle, hard boiled eggs, yogurt, fruit, juice, coffee, etc.
My wife is frequently in the area on business and stays at the Hampton Inn in Fishersville (an exit west on I-64). No reason to think it's any more likely to be "hiker-friendly" though.
Yep, I think we're talking about the same place. It's what you see up on the hill (if you're walking southbound) when you pop out of the woods and onto the highway south of Shenandoah National Park. The town of Waynesboro is several miles down the hill to the west. I opted for the Inn after waiting maybe 1/2 hour for a hitch into town.Originally Posted by sasquatch2014

The breakfast was reallllllyyy good!
My rate of 49 was on a Sat. Maybe you just have to come in from the rain and be really sorry looking to get that rate. I think I smelled pretty bad as well.
