    Default Thanksgiving Hike

I was wondering if anyone could suggest a good place to spend 3 or 4 days hiking the on the AT around northern Virginia or southern Maryland over thanksgiving.

I'd prefer a relatively non-strenuous spot because my dad who has, in the last year, had both of his knees replaced and is coming along.

I'd also like to avoid snow if at all possible for the same reason.

    Thanks for the help.

guess i've only really hiked old rag and whiteoak canyon in that area so i stereotype it as steep and challenging.

AT through SNP is just about the easiest trail in the park - a few ups and downs but mostly a ridge walk

SNP or even harpers ferry to pen mar park

SNP is not steep, at least on the AT. Nice place to visit. And see if you can rent one of the PATC cabins nearby if it isn't too late.

I do 3-3.5 miles daily during Thanksgiving holiday in Williamsburg. Well, I guess most of that is on a golf cart, but you could walk it.

Hey, Williamsburg is a great place to visit during the holiday season. Not the woods, but lots of walking available in the historic district. And the Raleigh tavern bakery is not to be missed.
