727 closed?

Does anyone know when Rt 727 which used to exit Burke's Garden and cross the AT on the south eastern end of the Garden, closed? Nessmuk sent me down that way, so that I could hike to Chestnut Ridge Shelter, but yesterday I encountered the Dead End and Road Closed signs, AND a several trucks loaded with deer, and hunters doing their things.

Had to drive back to 623. DID enjoy the southbound hike up the ridge. (ended up in Damascus with a great buy on some Rail Ryders!)

(PS It has been years since Nessmuk has been in the Garden, so we are wondering if 727 has been closed for a short or a long while.)

Frau, a lot of the roads that used to go through Big Walker, have been blocked off by Forest Service burms, I am not sure if 727 is one of them.
