    Default Lodging near Luray Va

Looking for a clean, inexpensive place to stay Friday night in the Luray area. Anyone know of something they'd recommend? I'll be in latish Friday night, and leaving before 10 on Saturday morning, so it's basically just a place to sleep.

Just a bit out of town. Gave me a decent deal when I came through last summer.

    Thanks Johnny,

Looks pretty good. I'll certainly consider it.

I should mention I could stay anywhere along the I-81 corrider between Lexington & the Edinburg/Luray area if anyone else knows of something they particularly liked.

I really liked the Luray Caverns Inn (motel?) right across from the caverns. Not cheap, but, extremely nice and clean.
I'm not really a hiker, I just play one on White Blaze.

Send a PM to "Skyline" on this site. He will steer you in the right direction and tell you about shuttle options as well.

To the best of my knowledge the closest "hostel" is a church hostel in Waynesboro. Though, I might have my mileage mixed up and the next closest might be the Bear's Den (North of Luray). Nothing in the immediate area. You might call one of the local outfitters to see if that's changed.

didn't want to start a new thread, anyone ever hitch into elkton 7.5 miles west, out of the SNP or 3.0 miles west, to a couple motels, one mentioned bear mtn. groceries nearby,i have always shot straight thru from waynesboro to front royal, like most probably do? thought i'd see what everyones thoughts were on elkton, and maybe Lurray. thanks

This is where I stayed. Easy walk to the laundrymat, grocery store and several fast-food joints.

Hitching into town took about 45 minutes though... I got a shuttle out the next morning so I wouldn't have to wait on a ride.
