Default Horkheimer Alert! Lunar perigee tonight!

The moon will be at perigee tonight ... and as a bonus, will be full. If you can get to a mountaintop, tonight would be a good night for it.

I'll put on my tinfoil hat , just in case.

With so many lunar treats on the menu tonight, there's no need to order a meal. Some may wish themselves in The Land of Cotton, but on a night like tonight I'd rather be on a mountaintop in the wilds of Maine.

Wasn't there some "extra-big moon event" a few months ago, too?

After our very rare snowfall a couple of nights ago (first time in four years!), the sky has cleared out nicely here, so we should have a good view!

    Default Full Moon

I could see it from the downtown streets of Mount Airy, NC -- big, bright, riding just above a bank of clouds. What a treat.

A salad bowl actually gives greater protection.

Tinfoil hats don't help, they hurt.

    Even ask MIT. http://people.csail.mit.edu/rahimi/helmet/
