Default Work on the AT this summer

The Maine AT Club is now in the process of looking for Caretakers and Ridgerunners for the coming hiking season. Imagine getting paid to be on the AT. What could possibly be better? I guess I could actually think of some things, but you get the point. For those interested contact MATC at www.matc.org.

Default Volunteer work on the Hunt Trail ( AT) in Maine this September

I just received word on a request for volunteers to work on the final section of the AT out of Katahdin Stream campground this Sept. This would be a chance to really help out as well as greet and congratulate thru hikers as they take their last steps up to the summit at the end of their walk.

The info is at this web addreess, but the new dates are Sept-2-9, 2009. All other info is current.
http://www.baxterstateparkauthority....Project_4.html. Note: this is real work, but extremely rewrding. You get to learn how to build trail and do stonework from the masters.

I would be there but I'll be out for that week , motorcycling the last section of the Trans Labrador highway instead.

    Thanks Uncle Tom.

I'm a volunteer trailbuilder for the Superior Hiking Trail and have been for two years now. It's the most rewarding, most fun thing I do all year long. You learn a lot and you meet great people. For anyone who can possibly take the time to help out on the AT, you will definitely not regret it.
