    Default Health foods/Super foods

    What good results have hikers had with health foods, vitamins, barley green, bee-pollen-royal jelly, herbal extracts? I find with the amount of physical stress the body is under with back-packing on the A/T, stress-related nutrients and minerals are essential. I like e-mergen-C, and other concentrated products for energy...

    I would think a well balanced multi vitamin would be a good idea along with extra C, you want to be sure you're getting enough B vitamins and minerals. As far as herbs go I would be careful, because what works for one person might not work for another. The same is true for diets - what works for one person might not work for another. I would try to keep my diet as balanced as possible even though I know that might be hard on the trail. Try to make sure you eat salads and fresh vegetables from time to time as opposed to just fats and sugar. Try to make sure you get enough protein as well.
