    Default Women Through-Hikers Documentary

    Hi -
I'm a woman documentary producer and I'm looking for a dialogue with women through-hikers planning to do the AT this year. I'm with a production company, Compass Light Productions, out of Camden, Maine and we're researching a series on women through-hikers. Many years ago we did a few shows with a woman AT through-hiker named Beverly Hugo, for A PBS series called "Trailsides." She has since died but we've never forgotten her.

We're researching a series now on women setting out this spring. I am trying to find hikers who might be interested in participating in this project. I'd like to find out a little about personal goals, and if there is any interest in being filmed at set points, or in maintaining diaries for use in the documentary, or any other thoughts that hikers have.

I'm glad to answer any questions. You can see a little about us at www.compasslight.com. We've been making science and nature docs for many years for Discovery, National Geographic, etc. Our latest Discovery series is called 'Sunrise Earth" - these are one hour shows on the sunrise.
    Thanks,
    Siane

This sounds like a wonderful project. I'd love to see something exploring the experience of women on the trail.

Sounds wonderful. I'm starting a flip-flop thru at the end of April. I'm starting with my Mom at the VT/MA line and going up to Maine then I'll flip back down and go on solo.

Wow that's a shame, at least her memory lives on through the video and the pages of her book.

    Thanks for the link Mags.
